That's why they are relatively thin-walled.These oil sight glasses use the so-called prismatic effect of a ""cat's eye"" to give an oil level or viscosity-independent, clear indication of the oil level. The advantage of these effects is particularly evident in case of total under- or overfilling and for control in poor visibility.
